Interserve’s long term programme is the core of our work. As a career member of our Fellowship, you will be encouraged to continue to grow as a disciple of Christ and in the communities that make up Interserve. You will serve people, influence the national church and establish genuine, lasting relationships, modelling the love of Christ. It is a labor of love and can become a life-calling. If you are interested in serving overseas as part of a career (more than two years), then consider joining for the long term.
Interserve Partners (long term members) normally serve in their country of service full time, returning to their home every 2 to 4 years for a period of time to refresh, and help serve the churches in their home country as they pursue God’s mission. We call these Home Assignment. The initial term of service is usually focused on language acquisition and cultural adjustment, although often includes a work assignment with a partnering agency or a local ministry.
Building relationships across cultures requires a commitment and an investment of time, but the benefits are enormous. Investing in people and relationships often results in our Partners falling in love with the people and the culture where they serve.
Our Partners need the support and backing of their church family as well as a good support base of friends and family. Living expenses are covered in a various ways depending on the country and work assignment – most Interserve Partners receive financial support from their home country through individuals and churches, so raising support is normally a part of preparing to be sent.
If you are interested in the long term program, please contact the Interserve office in your country.
