We are a Christian conservation NGO which mobilizes Christians and churches to take care of the natural world. We do this through scientific research community-based nature conservation and environmental education including the interface between our faith and caring for the natural world. We believe that doing so is an essential part of our worship and witness as Christians and provides a reason for hope through God who created and sustains His world.
The candidate will provide direction and leadership in delivering outcomes that enhance the natural environment for the benefit of wildlife and people. Within the broad remit of nature conservation and biodiversity and depending on their knowledge skills and interests they will undertake one or more of the following activities: a. scientific researchb. environmental education through schools churches or social mediac. advocacy and community engagement.They will ensure the provision of adequate resources and management of the organization to implement its strategy and work programs which they will develop with the support of the NGOs board.They will ensure the financial wellbeing of the organization through sound financial planning and effective fundraising. They will also ensure that the basic beliefs and values of A Rocha are practised at all levels and in all activities and will seek opportunities for new projects.
Management teaching communication and relationship skills are required. A qualification and experience in environmental science would be very helpful.The candidate should be prepared to learn Arabic which will likely require a year of full-time study.They will need to carry a vision for developing the organisation and be resilient in the face of setbacks and an ever-changing political environment. The post holder will preferably live in a small town near the project.
