The Arab World As defined by the Arab League, 22 Middle Eastern and North African countries make up this area of the world. 22 quite different countries whose common bond is the language of Arabic. The world so often misses the richness of culture and history in this part of the world and sees it only as a volatile and dangerous part of the planet – daily watching conflict across the area on their TV screens.
In some of these 22 countries, Interserve partners seek to serve God in a variety of roles such as health professionals, community development personnel, media experts. Some are in teaching roles in schools and universities, others are developing business opportunities and many are working alongside the local church in support and encouragement.
This part of the world is where the church was born and ancient orthodox churches reverently appreciate and testify to their long history. Yet in some of these 22 countries there is no national church. Christians of the The Arab World face great challenges, whether belonging to the ancient churches or to more recently developed church fellowships. It is a privilege for us to walk along with them seeing God's plan and purposes unfold in the deepening and growth of His family (or community) in the The Arab World.
