This is a 60-bed mission hospital in a small town in the foothills of the Himalayas, whose purpose is to care for the physical and spiritual needs of the local population. A lab technologist/trainer is required for routine lab procedures, helping to upgrade present lab facilities and training of lab students. The qualified technologist would be able to train and upgrade local lab technicians in the theory and practice of basic laboratory procedures including; haematology, chemical, serology, stool, urine, bacteriology, and blood type and cross-match, as well as be an active part of the team taking part in teaching/sharing. Laboratory technologist certification from an accredited program in country of origin is essential. Local language acquisition would also be a must. Long and short term opportunities are available for both males and females. Long term volunteers would study Urdu for 1-2 years before engaging in full time medical practice. Volunteers should be professionally qualified in his/her profession. In this challenging environment, it is helpful to have a hardy personality and good sense of humor. |
