An opportunity to invest into newer mission movements

The 21st century is bringing massive changes. World mission responsibility is being taken up by the global church, not just the ‘West’! New waves of mission are flowing from the global south.

Many of these global south mission workers come from the newer mission contexts of Latin America, Asia, Africa and East Europe. Most of these countries are in less affluent contexts (LACs), when compared with the ‘West’.

11% of Interserve’s 800+ mission Partners come from such LACs and newer mission contexts. We expect this to grow to 50% in the next 8-10 years!

Interserve International has established an innovative endowment fund to cover the essential cost of these mission workers. Income generated by the endowment fund will be used to:

• Enable our LAC Partners to cover for essential costs
• Enables access to all the benefits of being part of an international mission community
• Reduce the financial burden on Partners from more affluent contexts
• Increase the resources released for people and ministry development by Interserve International
• Finance new investment into this wave of newer missions

Income will first be used to cover central ministry costs up to the percentage of partners from LAC. Once the central ministry costs have been covered, any excess income will be assigned in the following ways:

a) Assistance to National Office entities in the emerging missions contexts to assist them in organisational capacity building
b) Assistance to individual mission Partners with unmet support needs

Alternative ways to Contribute

Three possible ways to contribute towards the essential cost of these mission workers are listed below:

1. You leave the endowment with Interserve and choose the type of investment fund (as described above, making use of the Trust)
2. You manage the endowment fund investment options yourself and donate the income from certain investments to support global south mission workers
3. You donate directly to support global south mission workers

The simple concept:

Income from your money
     ... supports people in mission
          ... from the global south
               ... to some of the 'hardest places'
